Harley Jo Brooks first visited Mae Hong Son in 2010, which is located in the North of Thailand, spending 9 months with a hill tribe family in a remote village. 12 years later she was reunited with the same family in the same village. 

The Matriarchs of Mae Hong Son is a small window looking into the daily lives of the Hill tribe women, their strengths, culture, traditions and natural love of life. The backbone of village and family life. 

She has used two techniques, one printed on canvas and the second are photos printed and then mounted on driftwood which was collected from the River Guadiana, dried and treated.

Harley Jo Brooks visitó por primera vez Mae Hong Son en 2010, que se encuentra en el norte de Tailandia. 12 años después se reencontró con la misma familia en el mismo pueblo. 

Las Matriarcas de Mae Hong Son es una pequeña ventana que mira a la vida cotidiana de las mujeres de las tribus de las colinas, sus fortalezas, su cultura, sus tradiciones y su amor natural por la vida. Ellas son la columna vertebral de la vida de la aldea y de la familia. 

Se han utilizado dos tecnicas, una sobre lienzo y la segunda son fotografias impresas y montadas sobre madera recogida del Rio Guadiana, secada y tratada.
